Meet a Mom – Heather Kobos | Essex County Moms

1.How many kids do you have and what are their ages?

I have two kids, both girls, who are 10 and 7 years old.

  1. How long have you lived in Short Hills/Millburn/Livingston and what made you decide to live here?

I’ve lived in Millburn for 4 years.

3.Tell us about your business and what other local things you are involved in!  And how did you get started?

I’m a dentist, working about 30 hours a week. Locally, I’m the Wyoming School PTO president and volunteer a ton at both Wyoming and Washington Schools. I started by volunteering to meet other parents, and then loved seeing my kids in school.

4.Favorite thing to do when you need “me time”?

I love, love, love to read. I’m obsessed with reading, and so my friends and I travel to book conventions across the country to talk books.

5.Favorite place for dinner with kids?

We love to go to Coda in Maplewood for dinner.

6.Most enjoyable place to hang out?

I’m a regular at Liv Breads. I just drink coffee and smell/eat the carbs!

7.How do you balance your career and being a mom?

That’s hard, but I manage! I try to be as involved as I can when I’m home, while keeping my sanity. It may or may not be working…

8.Proudest mommy moment(s)?

It might sound weird, but when my kids say “everyone thinks you’re a stay-at-home mom!” I feel super proud. I like that I’m so involved that people think that I’m around every day. Other than that, it’s the little things, like when my kids are polite or when they make friends with someone who may not have many other friends.

9.Can’t believe that happened mommy moment!

Probably every day when my kids run into walls or when they accidentally curse in front of strangers. Oops!

10.Best advice you have gotten from a mom?

My mom always gives me good advice. Probably the best advice is to just let my kids be themselves and don’t push them too hard.

11.Best piece of advice you can give other moms!

Once you think you’ve got it all figured out, everything changes! Just go with the flow as best you can.

12.One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I’m obsessed with romance books, and I’ve read over 1250 of them in the past 5 years!
